Demo Reel Breakdown

All Animation created by Tyler Richardson

My reel starts with the teenage mutant ninja turtles! For this shot i wanted to convey a range of emotions.

My goal was to give the feeling that Donatello here is going through the 5 stages of grief here as he's being told the bad news, and i wanted to be delicate and subtle but effective in the way i conveyed those emotions.

My second shot is a drastic change from the emptions shown in the first. In this acting piece the character is addressing the crowd in a frustrative, yet subtlety desperate way.

I wanted to convey a shift in the characters confidence and headspace using dynamic camera movement.

This shot was my first, first person animation. I've always had a passion for games and thought this would be a great way to start widening my animation experience. I wanted do something with a bit more flare and creativity than a regular reload and i ended on this fun idea.

As someone who grew up watching tom and jerry, it was only natural i had to make a fun animation with him. This cycle takes inspiration from the cartoony style of the show.

I used my knowledge of eases, timing, squash and stretch to get that nice bouncy feeling to it.

For this cycle i took lots of reference from real life crocodiles and studied how they moved, then applied are more fun and cartoony style to get an appealing run.

This piece was done in just 3 hours, i wanted to challenge myself with a short and strict time limit.

The fast cartoony motion allowed for some good showing of smears, squash and stretch and some fun zippy timing.

The goal was to create an effective sense of anger in the character, but with a comedic undertone.

I took a lot of inspiration from video games from this one, the goal for this one was to really study body mechanics to get more a realistic animation that what I'm used to doing.

I paid very close attention to my reference to get authentic body movement and had the opportunity to experiment with more drastic camera animation by utilizing keyframing of the FOV to create a punchy and satisfying feel.

Kratos rig by Cromacore

This piece makes effective use of comedic timing to sell the personality and comedy in the characters clear frustration. I had a lot of fun studying myself in my reference for this one.
